Petulu is a small rural village on the northern outskirts of Ubud where every afternoon thousands of white herons and egrets infiltrate the area. The birds travel in graceful formations from the island’s southern shores to nest daily in the tree tops. This natural phenomenon started some 40 years ago and the birds are believed to be a symbol of good fortune.
